Day one is the easiest. By rising early, you have already achieved a 100% success rate. You can make comments such as, “I have gotten up early every day since I made the decision to start my day earlier than other human beans.”
Of course on day one, your purpose for rising early is still fresh in your mind. There must be a reason for getting out of that comfortable bed, for leaving behind the warmth and comfort it offers and the possibility of a few more sweet dreams before the day begins.
My purpose is simple. I long to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. I have found that without time with Him in the morning I turn into a complete monster. I am not challenged with regards to changing into Christlikeness, I am self centered, impatient and depressed.
Psalm 16 vs 11 offers a good explanation of the reason for my need for time with the Lord:
“You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.”
I will rise early intentionally each day in order that I will know the Purpose that He has for me for today, and so that I will be filled with that indescribable JOY that only comes from being in His Presence.
