1 Peter 4 vs 11 “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”
I enjoy setting new goals. I enjoy the process that takes me from a dream to a reality. I enjoy coming to the end of the year and being able to look back on the plans I had made for the year and seeing what I was able to achieve.
I love how the verse in Peter challenges me to align all the details of the plans that I have made so that they will be for His Glory and not mine. My goals need to be achieved through the strength that He provides, not through any ability of my own for fear that I will boast.
And in amidst of the goals that I have set, comes the daily words that I speak. What a convicting little sentence Peter writes: “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.”
In order to achieve different goals one has to equip and train accordingly. In the same way, if I am not seeking His Face and spending time in His Word, then how will I know what words he wants me to speak? The earthly goals I set are necessary and provide direction and purpose for this earthly life. But the spiritual goals He sets for me are eternal and I need to make sure that I am investing my time accordingly.
May He give me the strength that I need today to serve Him at every opportunity, and the wisdom to know the words He wants me to speak in every conversation.
