Lie Down in Peace

Yesterday the Lord encouraged me regarding His Sustenance for when I wake up in the morning. Today His Word closes into a full circle as He gives me encouragement for when I go to sleep in the evening:

Psalm 4 vs 8

“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

This verse reminds me of one of my favorite memory verses as a child:

Philippians 4 vs 6

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

I often have to remind myself of this truth. I can worry, or not worry, and the outcome in the situation will be the same. But if I pray! That is when there will be a different outcome.

So as I close my eyes at night, I can do so with His Peace that transcends all understanding, secure in the knowledge that I have submitted my requests to Him and that He loves me.
