Daily Intimacy

Have you ever noticed that those you see on a daily basis are the ones you have the most to things to talk about with? It doesn’t seem to make any sense. Surely you would have so much to say to someone whom you have not seen for many years?

The truth is that when someone is walking your day to day life with you, you get to share with them the little things. Something that you may never remember when you meet up with someone in a year’s time, is important enough for you to share with that special person walking daily with you. It is all these little life events that build an intimacy which can only be developed from a foundation of time spent together.

Conversely when you meet up with someone after not seeing them for a year, you are forced to cover life’s events so broadly in order to cover everything, that the intricate workings of your day to day are never given an opportunity to be shared.

Psalm 68 vs 19 describes the type of relationship God longs for us to have with Him.

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”

God longs for us to come to Him daily to share our daily burdens. He does not want a summary at the end of the year, as though we are listing our desires to Santa Claus. He wants us to come to Him daily. The more time we spend with Him the more we will have to say to Him, and Him to us.
