I always find such comfort when I read the first chapter of Genesis. I read about about the detailed planning and structure that the Lord used in creating the universe and am comforted that it is the same God who has a detailed plan and structure for my own life. He did not make the animals before there was sufficient vegetation for them to live off, and he did not make the vegetation before He had created night and day, and separated the land from the water.
I can imagine how He sat in heaven looking down on each day’s work as He created each step. And at the end of each day He looks down on His progress and assesses His work as good. Until the final day where He creates man, and His assessment is upgraded and He deems it very good.
I don’t always know when I am praying for something what day its falls into in terms of God’s plan. I cannot expect Him to give me the vegetation in my life if He is still separating the land from the water. But of this I can be sure:
1 John 5 vs 14
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him.”
So all I have to do is to make sure I know that what I am praying for is in accordance to His will. And then to sit back and trust that our God of such perfect order and structure will answer me in His perfect timing.
After all, He had to create a lot of good before He could sit back and say that it was very good. And the desires of my heart may still need a lot of vegetation to grow before they can come to fruition.
Genesis 1 vs 21
“God saw all that he had made and it was very good.”
