1 Corinthians 11 vs 1
“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.”
I often wish that I could have been there when Jesus was teaching. I would love to sit on the hillside and be able to watch the expression on His face as He shared the sermon on the mount or his expression as he healed the sick. I want to know Him more. I want to be able to model my life after His. I want to follow His example.
John 17 vs 13-18
“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you will take them out of the world but that you will protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.”
Being able to read His Prayer for the disciples in John 17 helps me to be able to pray like He prayed. This prayer holds three main themes: He prays for their joy, their protection and their sanctification.
As I walk into a new day praying for myself, my husband, my daughters, my family and my friends, I follow His Example and I pray that we will have the full measure of His Joy within us, I pray that He will protect us from the evil one and I pray that He will sanctify us by His Truth.
