There are days when my husband is on the way to the shops and I say to him, “I just need a little something.” By this statement he knows that I need some chocolate, a little comfort food. I have a craving that can only be met by sugar.
I have a favorite Psalm that reminds me a little of comfort food. That “go to” Psalm that I always turn to when I need some comfort and security.
Psalm 139 vs 8-9
“If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”
There is no greater comfort to me than taking time to remember that our God is omnipresent. He is with us no matter where we are, guiding us and leading us. He is holding fast to us and keeps us secure.
Psalm 139 vs 18
“If I awake, I am still with you.”
I wrote Psalm 139 vs 18 next to my bed as a young girl, and as I woke up in the morning it would be the first thing that I saw. There is no greater comfort than to wake up and remember that He is still with me, and to start out my day walking in fellowship with Him.
