Matthew 22 vs 37
Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
My husband and I had a conversation yesterday about love. The outcome of the discussion was that in a healthy, growing relationship, the more you get to know someone the more you will love them.
As I look back on our five years of marriage and compare the love I had for him in the start of our relationship to now, I can clearly see how much more I love him now, because I know him so much better. And the more that I love him the better I am able support him, encourage him, respect him and serve him.
As I look back on my walk with the Lord it is exactly the same. The more that I get to know God, the more time I spend with Him, the more I see His hand at work in my life and the more I hear His small still voice, the more that I love Him.
The fact that Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to Love God with all of our hearts, souls and minds means that out of anything I am going to do today, this is my priority. The more I know Him the more I am going to be able to be obedient to this command and it brings such a sense of expectancy and excitement in my heart for the growth that is to come.
