John 9 vs 3
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “But this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”
The trials of the blind man and his parents are incomprehensible to me. I cannot imagine walking through this beautiful world of ours in darkness, or witnessing my child go through that same struggle.
My own struggles and trials seem so much easier than what this family had to endure. I am so encouraged by their faith and motivated to use difficult situations in my life to display the work of God.
Whilst a prayer for help is often on my lips during moments of struggle, I do not know how often I pray, “God display your work through this situation.” I long for difficult moments to pass, for problems to be resolved and for life to be easy. I need to take the focus off of me, and trust God and His Plan and His Purpose. My longing for sanctification and for God’s will needs to greater than my longing to simply be comfortable.
This passage in John is followed by Jesus speaking about the spiritual blindness in the world. What better prayer than to ask God to display His Works through my life so that the eyes of those who are in spiritual darkness will see.
May the trials and the successes of the day that lies ahead all serve to point to work God is doing in me and through me.
