Joshua 1 vs 9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
It is amazing how the presence of just one person can make the difference in how I am feeling. If my husband goes out or works late, I seem to only rest securely when I know he is home. If he has work to do and I go to sleep before him, when I awaken during the night and see that he is next to me, I am comforted and continue to sleep deeply knowing he is there.
How differently I would live if I chose to continually remember that God is with me wherever I go. The security that this passage in Joshua reminds us of is greater than any security we could gain from a person.
We are commanded to not be scared about anything, to not lose hope. We are commanded to remember that wherever we go, we have God there with us.
And that is enough.
We are never alone, what a comfort!
