Train to Win

Yesterday began with an almost exact repeat of the day before. As I walked to work, the same student came running past me on the way to our unit. Again I greeted him and this time I asked him if he was as stiff as I was from the fitness test the day before. He told me that he had done lots of stretching before and after the test, and this combined with his training meant that he was experiencing no pain at all.

Although I had been keeping myself fairly fit, I had not stretched nor trained in some of the specific areas we were going to be tested in, which resulted in those specific muscles being rather painful.

1 Corinthians 9 vs 25

“Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

This verse reminds us of two very important things.

  1. We need to keep the goal of an eternal crown in our minds as we live purpose filled lives. We need to live intentionally towards eternity.
  2. Part of living intentionally is the training that is needed to win the race. Not just any training, but strict training. Daily time in the Word, daily time in Prayer, Daily intentionally living out His Will for our lives.
