Early Morning Blessings

Psalm 119 vs 147

“I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word. My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises.”

I love to read this Psalm. I love the close relationship that the author has with God and his desire to seek and search so deeply in order to deepen his walk with the Lord. There are so many pearls of wisdom throughout the Psalm, so many convicting little statements that he makes as he pours out his heart to God.

This time before the sun rises has been such a blessing to me. Such stillness and calm in a household that reigns in chaos once the sun and the toddlers awaken. I can imagine that this author also had a crazy day that lay before him, and so he chose the watches of the night to meditate on God’s promises whilst all was quiet around him.

I am so thankful for these early mornings and for a chance to meditate on God’s promises and to once again be still and know that He is God.
