Yesterday I experienced a grey day. The sky was grey. The mist was grey. The amount of work piling up for me grey. The growing list of things that needed to be done grey. My mood was grey. My attitude was grey.
It was a grey Monday.
As I set off to do one of the mundane things on my growing list of things to do, I had to take a walk through one of the pathways at work. With the grey clouds and the brown grass, the pathway seemed to match my mood very well. It was bleak.
Out of nowhere however, there grew a patch of the most beautiful orange flowers that I have ever seen. Perhaps surrounded by other flowers I would not have paid so much attention, but in contrast to the grey environment and my grey day I was having, the flowers really just made my day!
Matthew 5 Vs 16
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
The world is a grey place filled with sin and pain and hurting. This verse reminds me of those orange flowers and encourages me to make someone’s day, to shine differently, to stand out. That my good deeds will glorify my Father in heaven is such a challenge and yet at the same time so easy when it is God who equips me and leads me and guides me in every good work.
