Our two year old has been taught to pray before dinnertime. She sits with her eyes closed, hands together, and her sweet little face earnestly prays the words that she has been taught at school.
The little prayer thanks God for her food and for our many blessings, but the word “blessings” seems to be one she doesn’t understand, and so her prayer thanks God for her many “Messings” instead.
From a young age we all mess. We all sin. My daughter may be too young to appreciate and understand her blessings, but she is not too young to understand that she messes. As little as she is she confidently lifts her “messings” up to Jesus as she prays.
Romans 3 vs 22
“This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
I am so thankful that even though I have many “messings” in my own life, I am justified freely by His grace.
1 John 1 vs 9
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
