Opportunity for Grace

Ephesians 2 vs 8-9

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
When hurt by a careless word said by one of my friends recently, I felt the Lord whisper gently into my heart, “Here is an opportunity to show grace.”
We have been shown so much grace by God, it is only fitting that we extend that same grace towards others.
Although not the easiest thing I had ever done, I chose obedience and I chose to put my bruised heart to the side. Later in the week when I found out the hurt caused had been completely unintentional and that there was far more to the story than I was aware of, I was so thankful for the gentle whisper to bite my tongue and to show grace.
I am thankful for a friendship that remained intact and thankful for the reminder that God gives us His Grace as a free  gift, not by anything I have done or not done.
