In a routine inspection of the runway one evening, we carried portable flashing lights to be placed in an area where work was being done on one of the taxiways. Circumstances delayed us from going when it was light and so by the time we went looking for where we were to place the lights it was already dark.
Even though I was driving cautiously because I was uncertain of where I was going, all too soon I found myself braking as the area that needed the cautionary lights seemed to jump out of nowhere.
It reminded me of the command in scripture to be a shining light for Christ. Although previously I saw the verse as an encouragement simply to lead people to Christ, this real life example reminded me that the reason people need the light is because of the danger that lies in the darkness.
May my life be such a shining light to others that it will lead them away from darkness.
Matthew 5 vs 16
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
May my life point them to Jesus, the light of the world.
John 8 vs 12
“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
