Wholehearted Prayer

Our three year old has learned a new prayer at school. After our two year old belts out her little prayer at the dinner table, her older sister puts her hands together, closes her eyes and earnestly prays.

There is a distinct difference between the two prayers, and I’m amazed at how somewhere between turning from two to three our oldest daughter seems to have gained a reverence and understanding for when she prays.

I get to  witness first hand  faith like a child. And it is beautiful.

And convicting.

What a challenge Jesus gives us in the gospel of Matthew:

Matthew 18 vs 3

“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”  He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”

May my own prayers be as earnest and heartfelt as my daughter’s. May I trust Him completely with the desires of my heart and do away with all scepticism and doubt.
