It was one of our busy afternoons and there were only a few short hours between coming home from work and going to bed. Somehow we managed to do some baking and get through supper and then my daughter asked if I could read her a story before bath time. We usually only read after bath time, but I told my daughter that there were just a few things I needed to get done and then we could read a story.
We did several chores together and I was nearing the end of the list when I noticed my daughter sitting watching me with expectant eyes. I smiled at her and told her that I would not be long and she replied, “Don’t worry mom, take your time.”
She was content to spend time with me and knew that I would read to her as soon as I could.
I imagine myself as a child sitting next to my heavenly Father whilst He orchestrates His plan for my life. I wonder how often I demand story time now, and how often I am content to let Him take His time, trusting fully that He knows best. Content just to be in His Presence.
